Port digitization is essential, but progress is slow in Italy

The digitization process of the port sector - according to Federlogistica - in Italy has so far caused a waste of money and a state of immobilism without programming.
This alarm came in recent weeks from the vice president and head of the digitization project of Federlogistica Conftrasporto, Davide Falteri.
According to him, the digitization of ports is a fundamental need for the entire logistics sector in terms of growth, development and security, but to date not a single euro of the resources made available for this purpose by the PNRR has been spent.
“To build a future it would be necessary to define a clear overview– declares Falteri –  immediately implementing new strategies that allow operational progress in terms of digitization, not only to avoid a macroscopic waste of public resources, but also to make the sector more competitive"

The PNRR is there but investments are lacking

From the logistics sector, therefore, there is an exhortation to a sudden change of pace to avoid a new bankruptcy and the waste of a great opportunity; an exhortation directed expressly to the Ministry of Transport.
This is because, precisely in regards to digitization "it is not yet clear what priorities are to be given in support of companies which, starting from cyber security, need real and concrete support".
The appeal has the purpose of speeding up times and ensuring that the money destined for logistics and the digitization of ports is actually spent for this purpose and not diverted to projects that have little to do with this world which, as we have often underlined also on the Buonefra blog, he has practically always characterized himself as a real driving force of the territorial and national economy.

The Digital Community of Logistics

The sum envisaged by the PNRR for the digitization of logistics is equal to 250 million euros; funds that have the specific purpose of implementing the national logistics digital platform.
However, as reported by Falteri “today the national platform risks feeding only corporate structures and consultants who, at the moment, have not produced any significant results. Federlogistica, on the other hand, has developed a large digital community project to which many important realities have already joined and which can immediately become the basis on which to build the national platform in a serious, structured and transparent way".
