Trentino-Tyrrhenian: railways protagonists of goods transport from Italy to the world

After a year of experimentation, the daily transport service from Trentino to the Tyrrhenian Sea has been activated, with a shift from road to rail which follows the path of sustainability and intermodality.
The service directly connects the interport of Trento with the ports of La Spezia, Genoa and Livorno and will be dedicated almost exclusively to the export of goods coming from Trentino to the rest of the world.

Intermodality for Trentino exports

But what is the great advantage represented by this service?
As communicated by Interbrennero and Medlog, the companies that have set up this "logistic relationship" between Trentino and the Tyrrhenian Sea, the new intermodal service will make it possible to move large quantities of loads from the road to the railways destined for international export, with a significant impact on environmental and organizational terms. Among the goods that will be involved in this "new" mode of transport there will be not only wine, the core of Trentino exports to the world for decades, but also paper and timber are some of the sectors that have chosen to embrace this intermodal project of transport.

Not only Trentino, from the train to the sea throughout Italy

The one from Trentino to the Tyrrhenian Sea, which will guarantee at least a couple of weekly trains to the port of Genoa, the same number to Livorno and three to La Spezia, is however not the only service of this type activated by Medlog. In fact, in recent months some departures have also been activated from the west of Milan, to be precise from the Inetrmodal Trasporti terminal in Agognate, always directed to the seaports of the North Tyrrhenian Sea, in line with the relations that have already been going on for some time with Segrate, in the east area of Milan.
Intermodal transport that rhymes with the future: from the railway to the sea to travel around the world; a sustainable road that allows logistics, a fundamental driving force in economic terms, to continue its growth process with an increasingly leading role.
